Bob is an Emerald Tree Boa. He is also Bernadette’s best friend in the whole world. He was strangely purchased by Mom. She made a move to counter the family ganging up on her when they all wanted a pet. But that’s another story. No really, it’s a story and it’s called ‘Serpent Surprise’.

Bob:
- Emerald tree boa – family pet
- He is from South America. Venezuela, Brazil or Columbia, snakes don’t really subscribe to the concept of countries, so he’s not sure.
- He is Bernadette’s sidekick, but also her best friend.
- Has a sense of humor
- A vivid imagination, especially concerning how great he thinks he is.
- Counterbalance to Bernadette’s emotional swings.
- He is often the ‘informer’ who is trying to teach Bernadette, which can be frustrating for him.
- He thinks in pictures & emoticons.
- His thoughts about rodents often distract him
- Likes: Rodents: Mice, jumping mice , gophers, rats, squirrels, prairie dogs, marmots, ground squirrels, chipmunks, voles, lemmings, woodrats, muskrats, rabbits, hares, cottontails, pikas, moles, shrews, hamsters, guinea pigs, weasel, stoat, mink, ermine, and accidentally a skunk.
- Not likes: Any bird of prey, cold (Like in Michigan, the state in which he was created!), gummy worms and spaghetti (looks like lot’s of small bloody snakes).
Dad:
- Strong and loving father figure
- Often clueless
- Fun loving
- Loves corny jokes
- He works, but family is his priority
- Shares in the home responsibilities with Mom, they are a team
- Often will pontificate with ‘Dad speeches’
- Likes: pecan pie, math, games. Actually, he loves games.
- Not likes: That newer whipped frosting that seems to be on all the cakes nowadays. Random towels that are always laying around everywhere!
Mom:
- Strong and loving mother figure.
- Sometimes overbearing on details – humor.
- She is the glue that holds the family together.
- She is the voice of reason when the family is out of control.
- Family is her priority.
- Childbearing has left her prone to pants wetting when sneezing and laughing.
- Likes: Knitting, but not sure what she can knit that is useful. (No, doilies do NOT count). Sleep, reading, and more sleep.
- Not likes: Cold, mice, cold and mice.
Kate:
- Bernadette’s older sister
- Provides entertainment because, well, she is in Middle School
- Likes: Softball, volleyball and her friends
Scotty:
- Bernadette’s baby brother
- Comic (poop joke) relief
- Talks, but usually needs to be translation to be understood
- Likes: Whatever Bernadette is doing
